Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (Revision 1.5)
A sourced record of one model and its documented revision-specific behavior. Similar model numbers and later board spins are distinct products.
IDENTIFY THE PCB FIRST: Record silkscreen, assembly revision, product suffix and firmware string. Use revision-matched manuals and support lists; verify against the physical board.
Documented specifications
| Exact model / revision | Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (Revision 1.5) |
|---|---|
| Socket / processor | Soldered Broadcom BCM2711, quad Cortex-A72 at 1.5GHz. |
| Chipset / architecture | BCM2711 SoC with VideoCore VI. |
| Memory | Soldered 1/2/4/8GB LPDDR4 variant; not upgradeable. |
| Form factor | 85 × 56 mm SBC. |
| I/O / expansion | Dual micro-HDMI, USB 3/2, Gigabit Ethernet, wireless, GPIO, CSI/DSI, microSD and USB-C power. |
| Firmware / boot compatibility | No PC BIOS; ROM loads EEPROM bootloader then selected media; boot order/EEPROM matters. |
Compatibility and revision pitfalls
Pi 4 differs from Pi 5. Identify board revision and RAM SKU; GPIO is 3.3V. EEPROM recovery is separate from OS reimage.
Before substitution, check exact CPU/SoC support, minimum BIOS/bootloader, memory population, power connectors and chassis requirements. Matching socket or connector alone does not prove compatibility.
Repair and preservation notes
Back up boot media/EEPROM; note RAM/revision; inspect USB-C/micro-HDMI and avoid GPIO 5V; verify supply/cooling.
Record provenance, labels, firmware and test conditions. Photograph traces, jumpers and cable routing before repair or cleaning.
