HPE Trusted Platform Module 2.0 Kit 745823-B21 (Gen9)

HPE ProLiant Gen9-generation discrete TPM 2.0 option kit. The option is tied to compatible HPE server system boards and firmware; it is not a general motherboard module or expansion-slot card.

IDENTIFICATION: Confirm the printed part number, revision and host-board model. The connector, TPM generation, protocol transport and firmware support below are separate compatibility constraints.

Specifications and compatibility limits

Catalog subcategorySecurity coprocessors
Exact model / part identifier745823-B21, Gen9 TPM 2.0 kit
TPM protocol / command interfaceTCG TPM 2.0 command interface as integrated by the HPE server firmware; this option does not expose a generic peripheral bus to the OS.
Physical connector / transportDedicated HPE server-board TPM option connector; its pinout, orientation and mounting are platform-specific. HPE service documentation for the exact server governs installation—do not adapt it to a standard desktop header.
Host compatibility limitHPE ProLiant Gen9 servers explicitly supporting the 745823-B21 option. Confirm the server QuickSpecs, board/system-ROM requirements and installed security policy; do not infer Gen10/Gen11 compatibility.
Firmware / OS compatibility limitRequires an appropriate server system ROM/UEFI configuration and OS TPM 2.0 support. Server generation, TPM mode, provisioning and firmware-update paths are HPE-specific; firmware or TPM state changes can affect sealed keys and measured-boot policy.

Installation, firmware and archival notes

  • Before installation, record the module label/revision, host motherboard or server model, board revision, BIOS/UEFI version and TPM mode. Check the host’s own support list and installation diagram.
  • Use ESD precautions and the documented module orientation. A physically fitting header may have different LPC/SPI signaling, pinout or voltage; never hot-plug a motherboard TPM module.
  • TPM clear, replacement, firmware changes or mode changes can invalidate keys sealed to the previous TPM state. Back up recovery keys and follow the platform owner’s documented recovery procedure before service.
  • This is a TPM, not a general-purpose cryptographic coprocessor or HSM: do not assume it offers PCIe/USB/network connectivity or vendor-specific bulk crypto APIs.

Where a manufacturer no longer publishes a current manual, preserve the source revision and verify the hardware against the original host platform before use.
