Compatibility & electrical hazards

Carries compatible digital video only; DVI does not carry HDMI audio. This passive cable does not translate unsupported resolutions, refresh rates, HDCP behavior, or connector signals. Check source/display documentation and do not assume a DVI-D display receives audio.

Archival & handling notes

Keep the source direction and known working display mode with the cable record. DVI housings are comparatively bulky; support cable weight and avoid side-loading the port.

For collection records, photograph both connector faces and all labels; record manufacturer, complete SKU, revision, provenance, condition, and the source document used for identification. Do not apply power to an unidentified or damaged cable.
